Eltham High Street’s Yak and Yeti has been voted best south Asian restaurant in the Eltham constituency after a public vote organised by Eltham MP Clive Efford.
Clive had asked local people to vote online for their favourites curry restaurant as part of the national Tiffin Cup, run by Keith Vaz MP. Members of Parliament were asked to nominate the most popular South Asian restaurant in their constituency to go forward to the next round where a final short list of ten restaurants will be drawn up and the finalists invited to a
cook off final at Bellamy’s Restaurant where the overall national winner will be found.
Clive explains: “The Tiffin Cup is now in its eighth year and celebrates the best of South Asian cuisine providing us with an opportunity to celebrate the rich variety of flavours served in restaurants up and down the country. I am delighted that the
Yak and Yeti will be representing Eltham in the next round. The restaurant owner Mahendra Kandel has chosen to invest in our town centre. At a time when things are difficult for small businesses the Yak and Yeti shows what is still possible. He has taken a key building in the High Street which had been empty and derelict for several years and turned it into a fantastic restaurant.”
