Clive slams planning inspector’s Big Yellow decision
Clive has expressed his disappointment and frustration at the decision to allow a Big Yellow self-storage warehouse at the Clifton’s Roundabout. “This is the wrong development in the wrong place at the wrong time” said Clive.
Greenwich Council had turned down the application before the Company appealed to the Planning Inspectorate. They held a three day inquiry during which Clive joined local residents to give evidence against the proposals. Clive told the inspector that the proposal was completely out of keeping with the pleasing 1930s art deco buildings on the site now. He is also complained that the proposal would close several local businesses employing over 30 people and replace them with a warehouse which would be fully automated plus two retail units.
“At a time when we need to be keeping and creating jobs I am extremely disappointed that this decision will lose jobs in the local area.”
